About me
In 1979, Annie began a decades-long journey teaching photography through many institutions. She’s been teaching at Summits since 1987 and, although she has lost count, the 2026 Black Hills Summit is somewhere around her 40th (Perhaps you recall that there used to be four Summits each summer!). Her training in both science and education, her years as a schoolteacher and as Environmental Education Coordinator for Massachusetts Audubon Society, and over half her life of teaching photography, all add up to a large population of students. From 2009 to 2021, she taught an online 3-credit course in Digital Photography for UMass Amherst. Her beginner’s guidebook to digital photography will be published soon, as well as her first children’s book. Annie was accepted into the Sawmill River Arts Gallery in 2021, in Montague, MA, where her work is exhibited 24/7/365. She enjoys offering slide lectures on her travels across the country to unusual places such as Death Valley and the Okefenokee Swamp, as well as internationally to Tanzania, Kenya, and Morocco. She’s looking forward to exploring amazing photo opportunities with Summiteers in this special and historic site!
