About me
Betty Trummel is retired from a 35-year career of elementary teaching and 10 years as an adjunct professor at the university level. She's taught at over 40 Summits since 1983 and loves to reach out to learners of all ages to teach about the natural world and create a sense of wonder. Summits have been a part of her life for over 42 years! Three expeditions to Antarctica have focused on education outreach, working alongside scientists at the U.S. McMurdo Station. Betty headed back to Antarctica in December 2016, as part of the all-women's expedition named Homeward Bound. She was one of 78 women chosen for this inaugural journey, part of a global collaboration and an inspiring leadership and strategic initiative, set against the backdrop of Antarctica. Betty has taught from every continent and is an avid traveler/learner. She actively continues to bring educational outreach opportunities to her community and learners everywhere through presentations.
