About me
Danny McMurphy is a lifelong resident of Sullivan, Missouri, where he has raised 4 children, two sons and two daughters, and has 4 grandchildren. He and his wife, Linda, have been married for 56 years. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – St. Louis District in 2009 and has since become a volunteer addict. He is a Life Member of Missouri’s Ozark Trail Association and has been a Missouri Master Naturalist for over 15 years, donating over 4,00 hours on many different projects. He has served his local chapter as communications chairman since joining in 2009 and is a past Chapter President. Danny is a 65-year veteran of the BSA and an Eagle Scout, having served many years as a Scoutmaster, Explorer Advisor, and Venturing Crew Leader. He was the hiking coordinator for our FNS in 2011 at Trout Lodge in Missouri and has been a hike leader for the Family Nature Summits ever since. He has degrees in Geology and Engineering Management from the U. of Missouri – Rolla (now Missouri S & T). Danny is working his 14th summer as a seasonal naturalist/interpreter at Meramec State Park in Missouri. He has also served 4 Summers on the staff at the Philmont Scout Ranch in the Volunteer Geologist program. He also led float trips in Minnesota, where he has also led Scout boundary water trips in the past. Danny has also served previously as an FNS board member.
